Rep. Kind Votes Against Tax Bill that Gives Large Tax Cuts to Powerful Special Interests At Expense of Hardworking Wisconsinites
Today, the House voted to advance a bill that gives large tax cuts to powerful special interests at the expense of Wisconsin’s working families, family farmers, seniors, and veterans. Rep. Kind voted against the bill.
“There is no question that our current tax code is in need of reform. I believe that this Tax Bill isn’t the right kind of reform Wisconsinites need. In addition to sticking our children and grandchildren with over 2.3 trillion dollars in debt, it gives large tax cuts to the very wealthy and powerful special interests at the expense of Wisconsin families, veterans, and farmers.”
During the markup of the bill Rep. Kind offered amendments aimed at helping veterans get jobs, ensuring fiscal responsibility, supporting family farmers, and protecting places of worship from being politicized. All amendments were blocked by Congressional Republicans.
“If my colleagues are willing, I stand ready to work on a completely paid-for bipartisan plan to simplify the tax code and cut taxes for hardworking Wisconsinites.”
Congressional Republicans continued to make last minute changes that will impact every single person in America. The Senate is expected to pass their own tax bill and then both bills will go to a conference to be reconciled
